A good way for preserving the stages of your pregnancy is to make stomach molds for fetal stages. Tummy molds can be created with plaster and gauze bands to a cast duplicating the form of the pregnant belly at a certain developmental stage, or different stages, during the course of development.
The perfect time to make the tummy molds for fetal growth is during the seventh and ninth months of pregnancy where the baby's growth is in its enhanced stage, but you could create tummy casts for fetal growth at any stage in your pregnancy.
Tummy casts are made by rubbing Vaseline on the area of tummy that you want in the mold. Some women decide to cast their torso, arms, hands, and/or thighs also for a more fulfilling experience. After rubbing the Vaseline, or a similar lubricant, you must submerge store bought plaster strips of gauze, one at a time, in tepid water. After this, you overlap the gauze bands over any area that you have lubricated.
When the belly mold for fetal development has been in place for about half hour, you must take it off it by slightly moving it to free it up and ask a family member lift it away and set it somewhere to set fully for the next 24 to 48 hours.
After it is ready you must rub a little Gesso to the belly cast. Gesso can be used as a paint-primer for the tummy molds for fetal development. Gesso is a powdered form of the mineral calcium-carbonate which is commonly used in crafts, and is safe to use. You can paint it, put designs on it, or let it plain; use your creativity and you will get a memorable form of art for decades to come.
Most plaster is safe for the skin but you must do any painting and decorating to the tummy mold after it has been removed from your stomach so that no toxic chemicals from paints or dyes can run through the skin resulting in allergies to the mother or your baby.
Tummy molds for fetal development are also known as belly casts, or belly casts for pregnant women. You can find lots of websites you can purchase a belly cast from or you can make a personal tummy mold using some ingredients and supplies. No matter if buy a tummy cast or decide to make your own, make sure there is a helper and a comfortable place to sit as it can take some time.
